    Citrus Research and Development Foundation

    In 2009, the Citrus Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (CRDF) was formed to coordinate citrus research funding in the face of huanglongbing (HLB, also known as “citrus greening”). While it addresses the full array of citrus research needs, CRDF has focused on HLB because it represents an existential threat to the Florida citrus industry.

  • 2025 RFP - Approaches to speed up the transition from juvenility to maturity

    The Citrus Research and Development Foundation, Inc. announces the 2025 call for Preproposals soliciting approaches to speed up the transition from juvenility to maturity. Currently, CRISPR is done in citrus protoplasts resulting in regenerated plantlets that are juvenile. The time required for transition from juvenility to maturity is a major limitation. Flowering is an obvious characteristic of maturity. In recent decades, two genes that produce three proteins called FT1, FT2, and FT3 have been researched to understand their involvement in induction of flowering. Specific microRNAs have also been elucidated that regulate the flowering process. Better understanding of the regulation of flowering may enable manipulation to greatly decrease the period of juvenility. This RFP is to develop new approaches to speed up the transition from juvenility to maturity. The deadline to submit Preproposals is 5:00 PM Eastern Time on Monday, August 25, 2025. LEARN MORE »

  • 2025 RFP for Proposals for Large-scale Field Trials

    The Citrus Research and Development Foundation, Inc. announces the 2025 call for Proposals to Conduct Large-scale Science-based, field trials that demonstrate the impact of utilizing a combination of management and therapeutic tools for plantings and the rehabilitation of existing trees, including, but not limited to, grove design, planting preparation, pest management, disease management, individual protective covers, and post planting production practices which promote increased production of citrus.
